Communications Chain?
05/April/2022 10:41 AM
Greetings to all full-time residents and landowners. Most of you are probably aware of the fire that was on Sheepback mountain yesterday which is just past Ghost Town and a fire that was on the backside of our mountain. I understand that fire trucks were at the top of our mountain since the fire was a threat to our cabins/homes.
This raises concerns about communications to all of us. I am suggesting that we set up a phone/communications chain to warn full time and part time residents of any infringing danger to our life and property. Example: warning us about evacuation if the fire department calls for it.
I am suggesting that we have at least six people volunteer to make calls if this is necessary. Presently we have 9 full-time residents, and I am asking that 6 would be willing to be a part of this phone call chain. I would like to have a meeting in May with those volunteers to come up with a solid plan to implement this. We will also need full cooperation from all property owners to inform us of emergency contact numbers.
If you are willing to volunteer, please get back to me and I will get things rolling.
Dave Parsch, V.P.

Loose Dogs

Even though we live in the woods, we must remember that we do have neighbors and need to respect their property by keeping our pets on our own property. We have discussed this at the last 6 meetings, written group emails and emailed the offending owner(s) but this situation continues to happen. YOU must keep your pets on your property or on a leash when you walk your pet and YOU must clean up after your animal.
Our Declarations and Covenants specifically state in Article III Section 12:
“According to our Declarations this behavior is not allowed. Refer to our Declarations and Covenants Article III Section 12 about animals. No livestock or poultry of any kind shall be raised, bred, or kept on any lot, other than dogs, cats, and other domestic household pets, and then only when they are reasonable in number and not maintained or bred for any commercial purpose and when proper restraint and control are used in the keeping of them.”
The VVOA Board has decided that owners that refuse to keep their pets on their property as stated above will be subject to a fine of $100 for the first documented occurrence. If the behavior of the owner continues then the Board has the authority from Article X, Sec 2, to remedy this situation.

New Gate Code
16/September/2021 06:11 AM
Greetings to all. One of our residents notified me yesterday that a contractor who has been working for them had to fire one of his employees. The contractor said he did not trust the disgruntled worker. For our security and safety, I will be changing the gate tonight around 6:00 p.m. Please check your e-mail for the new code.
We discussed this at our annual meeting in July. This is a good reminder to all of us--if you know of or see anything or anyone who appears to be suspicious, please let us know.
Thank you to our neighbors who notified us of this situation.

Road Blockage
22/September/2020 08:22 PM
Greetings to all. Last night a big tree fell onto the road and created quite a mess. Some home owners were trying to get back to their residence and could not. The Fire Department and Duke energy came up the mountain shortly after 9:30. They did as much as they could to remove the tree and branches but then the Maggie Valley Fire Chief called a friend with the sanitation department and had a gentleman come up around midnight to get the tree/branches and huge rocks off the road. I have been trying to get this man's phone number and I am hoping that many of us will give him a call and thank him for doing this act of kindness. When I get his number I will send it to you. Just a reminder.....if you come across a tree that is down be careful because it could have taken down a live power line that may be hidden by the branches.
Take care.....Dave Parsch

New Board Members

Hello All,
It's been very active on the mountains this year. Rain, repair roads, rain and repeat. Thanks to our dedicated Board members for all they do to help maintain our association property.
Our board changed this year with a couple members leaving and new ones joining. My thanks go out to Rich Cook and Ed Bourke for their many years of work and support of all we do.
We welcome new Board members Susan LeClaire, Fay Collins and Ashley Youngs. Susan will be transitioning into the role of our Secretary, Fay will be a member at large and Ashely will be involved in special projects. Please welcome them and wish them well in all their assignments.
NOTE: Ashley Youngs has agreed to put together a list of vendors that we currently use and also contact you to see if there is anyone you might recommend. She'll be creating a sort of Angie's List (something many have requested) for our Associations Members use. You can help her by either emailing her your preferred vendors or taking her call when she reaches out to you. She can be reached by email: "ayoungs@hotmail.com". or by phone: 561-345-1248.
All the Best,
Rick Elbracht
